Many people ask me how they should think about stocks, and I tell them what I can. However, one of the questions that some of my readers ask me is how I developed this website. I’d have to say. I have probably learned just as much about online marketing as stocks…. as I have been running my blogs.
So how do I see the cyber world and what would I suggest you be aware of? Check out the following list of ideas.
1. Internet marketing is a pretty wide, blanket term for what anyone does to drive traffic to their site and to drive sales. There are many different types of internet marketing, each with it’s strengths and weaknesses.
2. Email marketing is still talked about heavily. Having a list is great, but don’t try to just make one GIANT list of every human being to ever come across your site, ever. Because that’s just not going to drive home what you want it to.
Focus on getting your list, of course, but make sure it is filled with people who are there because they WANT to be, and because they are interested in what you have to say and what you are selling.
Many ‘gurus’ will tell you that a big list is key, and try to sell you on list building software, list swaps, selling you lists…whatever. None of that will get you anywhere except in a spam folder. Don’t do it. Trust me. These aren’t the lists you’re looking for (extra points if you get that reference).
3. Video marketing is becoming pretty primo in terms of internet marketing. Go take a look at your Facebook newsfeed, and come back and tell me how many ‘viral’ videos you see your friends sharing. There is a pretty good chance 2-3 people on your list have shared the same video in the past day, and they may not even know each other. Find out more at WP Engine
Now, once you’ve counted up all of those videos, watch some of them and tell me which ones are ACTUALLY ads. There is a good bit of them. The reason why ads are becoming so viral now is because they are no longer just about promoting a product. There are stories and known characters involved now. Take a look at the popularity of Flo and the Old Spice Guy as just two examples.
4. Back to my point from above: Here comes a favorite form of Internet marketing: Blogging. Seriously, this can not be talked about enough. Blogging is not just the words you see written on this pretty site. Blogging is the channel that you get all of your content out.
On your blog you can have: pictures, videos, podcasts, plain texts…you name it, you can put it on there. And that is an amazing way to get your content seen, heard and shared. You can really blog about anything you are interested in or passionate about. Really sky is the limit. You can blog about stocks or sticks. As long as you have a reader base you are golden.
Managing a blog correctly is pretty crucial. Knowing how to schedule the content, tagging and categorizing it, and managing all of the internal links and navigations items, really can elevate your blogging channel to the next level.
There are many ways that you can create content in the Internet marketing arena. You do not have to box yourself in by doing only one form, likewise, you don’t have to keep doing the same form on repeat until it works.
Play around, see what does and does not work for the goals that you are trying to accomplish. Once you figure that out, you will be good to go.
