My name is Mark. I have had a successful career in the medical industry. Throughout the years I have done quite a bit of investing. I have found that I have mad good decisions and bad decisions. I love to travel to beautiful and remote places in the world. Some of my favorite destinations are BVI (if you don’t know what that is look it up), Playa Copal Costa Rica, Berlin and Hamburg Germany and the south of France.
I am orginally from Florida. I am married and have 3 kids. I love spending time on my back porch and love building things (such as this website).
I have worked with doctors for years and have learned most of what I know from listening to them. Note, just because they are doctors doesn’t make them savvy when it comes to investing.
The best investing advice I have ever gotten came on the other side of doctor that read an 800 page book on the matter. He said that house always wins. He said that we should all just buy shares in the overall index of the stock market. Let the others that are less savvy invest in the smaller stocks (speed boats) because while they may move fast, they can move fast. ;-)
Overall no one can predict the future values of stocks. It is simply not possible. Past performance does not indiccate future performance or returns. I have learned that we are all pretty smart when we look at past trends. I have even downloaded software that identifies past trends to give you an idea of what might happen with a stock.
I found that it wasn’t a great way for me to invest. It didn’t seem to hold as true as I had hoped. I know what it is like to lose tens of thousands of dollars in a short amount of time. That was mostly from real estate investing mistakes, but this site isn’t about that. Although at some point I might share what I learned from my mistakes in real estate investing. You know what I definitely will tell those stories. They are worth sharing.
Never stop learning. That’s what I always say to myself. I will stop learning when I am dead.
Self improvement is what sets us apart from most others, so I whole heatedly believe in keeping up with my personal education. I have found that I often learn best in my car and love to put in audio books to further and deepen my understanding of business and relationships.
I really hope that you find this blog helpful.
